Ohio small business websites: a 2026 homepage report

We examined 550 rendered homepages across 18 business types in 9 Ohio counties. Each type is an exploratory sample of listed websites we could observe, not an estimate for every business.

All rates below are exploratory. The rendered sample for each type is smaller than the grading target described in the source methodology.

These are detected homepage features. Booking means a matching link or widget; it does not establish that a booking can be completed. HTTPS describes the final homepage address. A viewport setting is a page hint, not proof of mobile usability.

Methodology and limits

Cowerx used listed websites and primary business categories from Overture Maps Places. The sample covers 9 counties. Domains were selected in stable hash order and balanced across counties. CowerxBot respected robots.txt and checked homepages in rendered Chromium on September 25, 2026. Failed and blocked renders were excluded. See the full source methodology for sampling, detector rules, dates, licensing and audit limits.

Each rate uses successfully rendered homepages for that type. A tap-to-call link has a tel: target with enough digits; booking is detected from link or service patterns; HTTPS uses the final page address; and viewport checks page metadata. We did not test whether calls, forms or bookings worked. Categories may be wrong, sites may have changed, and a feature may be present on another page. The results do not describe all Ohio businesses, all websites, site quality, or county-level rates.

Every cell is gated by the source claim() rule and independently counted from its rendered manifest. The CSV includes each manifest digest and observation date for audit.
